Hear the accordion play of Vincent van Amsterdam in the afternoon and get acquainted with all things Dutch!

Dutch Flower Arrangements Workshop

Flowers are an important part of the Dutch culture. While tulips are one of the most well-known symbols of the Netherlands, perhaps not many people outside the Netherlands know about the distinct style of Dutch floral design. Besides an important cultural tradition, it is an art that attracts both Dutch and foreign practitioners. Dutch Days is pleased to offer a hands-on workshop on Dutch flower arrangements, which is taught and demonstrated by Catherine Au, a Hong Kong-based Advanced Dutch Flower Arranger and an Instructor of Dutch Flower Arrangements.

About the Instructor

Catherine Au graduated from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, majoring in graphic design. She loves flowers and is very fond of European style floral arrangements. She became interested in Dutch flower design after starting her retail shop in 1995. She later became certified as both an Advanced Dutch Flower Arranger and an Instructor of Dutch Flower Arrangements.

She began working as a part-time floral design tutor in 2006 for the Institut de Artflor, European Floral Design Academy-licensed school in Hong Kong, and programme provider for the floral design program in the City University of Hong Kong’s School of Continuing and Professional Education. Her expertise was recognised by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, where she served as a specialist for the Hong Kong flower industry from 2013 to 2016.

She is also a part-time tutor at the Vocational Training Council.
