About the exhibition

Discover a new universe; experience a different reality; explore a new way to see the world. Indulge yourself in the otherworldly details in the breathtaking designs of Amber Ambrose Aurèle.

The exhibition features a retrospective of Amber’s work. After graduating, Amber Ambrose Aurèle established her Amsterdam-based eponymous label. She has a firm belief her art of shoemaking requires interdisciplinary research which explores new fields in every collection. The shoes on display are one-of-a-kind made of experimental techniques and noteworthy materials; among them are 3D-printed metal, embossed latex, LED-fabric, real human hair and porcelain.

Amber’s shoes are seen in editorials (Vogue, Kaltblut, and many more) and exhibitions and museums all over the world (such as Dubai, Shanghai, Vienna). This will be the first time Amber shows to the Asian public at Art Statements in Hong Kong.

About the artist

Amber Ambrose Aurèle is a Dutch haute couture shoe designer, known for her visually unique work and sky-high heels. Amber explores the boundaries of fashion and art through her Haute Couture shoe designs.

She holds an MA in Shoe Design from ArtEZ Arnhem (2012) and a MA in Art History from the University of Amsterdam (2012). Her academic background makes her research process unique and elevates her vision of beauty and design. The first to 3D-print metal heels, her creations have a sweet and twisted view that combines fine handwork technique with innovative technology.

“Sweet things have a strange edge.”
