In celebration of Dutch Days, Dutch culinary and artistic expression converge at Brasserie on the Eighth. The restaurant will collaborate with Frank van Driel Fine Art Photography to host brothers Hendrik and Kamiel Buysse from Blend with pop-up dining concept “Art x Dining on the Eight.”
Presenting the pop-up dining experience at Conrad Hong Kong, it is inspired by the Dutch Golden Age, a period in the history of the Netherlands in the 17th century with a vibrant dining culture brought by the Dutch trading through the ships and the connection with its trading countries.
Renowned Dutch photographer and artist Frank van Driel creates contemporary still lifes that are inspired by Dutch and Flemish master painters, in which 17th century symbolism and stylised movements interrogate modern issues such as conservation of nature and food security. Accompanied by van Driel’s beautiful food for thought, diners will savour delectable cuisine featuring royal luxury ingredients, spices (Dutch East Indies), exotic plants, forgotten recipes with finest and seasonal ingredients from the Netherlands.
“Art x Dining on the Eight” is offered from 20 to 29 April. Four-course, six-course, and à-la-carte dinners, as well as bar snacks are available, with options to include cocktail and wine pairings. On 24 April, diners may also pamper their ears with accordion performance by award-winning Vincent van Amsterdam. On other evenings, they are treated to DJ music curated by Kamiel Buysse from Blend.
